HAL and CeNS join hands to set up advanced academic centre to promote science education

HAL on Friday said that it has signed an agreement with the CeNS to establish the HAL Advanced Academic Initiation Centre in Karnatakar

New Delhi: Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Centre for Nano and Soft Matter Sciences (CeNS) to establish the HAL Advanced Academic Initiation Centre in Karnataka. The initiative, undertaken under HAL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, aims to promote science education and enhance social outreach, particularly among students from rural backgrounds.

The agreement has been signed by HAL's General Manager (HR) Pradeep Kumar and , CeNS's Director Prof. BLV Prasad in the presence of HAL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Dr DK Sunil, HAL's Director (HR) MG Balasubrahmanya and other senior officials.

The new centre will be housed at CeNS’ Arkavathi Campus and function as a hub for science education under the institute’s flagship Vigyaani Vidyarthi Vichar Vinimay (V4) programme. This initiative has already reached over 20,000 students across 200 institutions, introducing them to cutting-edge advancements in science and technology.

Commenting on the development, HAL CMD said, “The HAL Advanced Academic Initiation Centre will enable CeNS to reach out to a greater number of students and foster curiosity among young minds, especially those from rural areas who have limited exposure to advanced scientific concepts.”

Prof. Prasad welcomed HAL’s support, stating that the new facility would enhance CeNS’ capacity to engage with more schools and help demonstrate scientific concepts more effectively. He emphasized that the collaboration would play a key role in inspiring the next generation of scientists and innovators.
