New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has been recognised for its significant contributions towards the eradication of Tuberculosis (TB) and the upliftment of marginalized communities in Angul district, Odisha. The recognition has been conferred by the Union Minister of Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan in a ceremonial function held in Angul on February 23.
MCL's Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday Anant Kaole received the certificate of appreciation in the presence of distinguished guests, including Rudranarayan Pany, Member of Parliament, Dhenkanal; Keshav Rao, Director (Personnel) of MCL; Abdaal M Akhtar, Collector, Angul; and other senior officials and dignitaries.
As part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives, MCL has undertaken various measures to combat TB in the region. Notably, the company has provided food baskets to 254 families and 1,016 TB patients, ensuring essential nutritional support for improved health outcomes. Additionally, a dedicated TB-awareness van was flagged off to enhance awareness about TB prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment in Pallahada, Talcher, and Kaniha blocks of Angul district.
MCL’s proactive efforts align with the Government of India’s ambitious vision to eliminate TB by 2025. The company’s commitment to public health underscores its dedication to fostering a healthier and stronger community through strategic and collaborative initiatives.
This recognition highlights MCL’s continued focus on sustainable development and its role in supporting national health objectives while positively impacting the lives of the underprivileged.
