MCL to fund Rs 17.5 crore for development of Nuapada, Balangir & Sambalpur

New Delhi: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has signed three memorandums of onderstanding (MoU) of total Rs 17.54 crore under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for infrastructure development in Nuapada, Balangir and Sambalpur districts of Odisha.

As a part of the Aspirational District Programme of the Government of India, MCL has signed a MoU with the district administration, Nuapada to develop the educational infrastructure at a total cost of Rs 4.35 crore.

With this support under CSR, at least 51 additional classrooms will be developed besides the facelift of existing infrastructure in 36 schools of the Nuapada district.

Under another MoU signed with Sambalpur district administration, MCL has earmarked Rs 7.56 crore under CSR project “Aarogya” for enhancement of the medical facilities at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), Burla.

On behalf of MCL, these MoU were signed last evening by Rajnikant Panigrahi, General Manager (CSR) with Madhuchhanda Sahu, CDO-cum-Executive Officer, Zilla Parishad on the behalf of Nuapada district administration and with Dr. Jayashree Dora, Dean & Principal, VIMSAR, Burla on the behalf of Sambalpur district administration.

Similarly, a MoU to contribute Rs 5.63 crore under CSR for different developmental projects in Balangir district was signed on Saturday by the GM (CSR) with Shri Chanchal Rana, IAS, Collector & District Magistrate, Balangir.
