This CSR initiative will benefit around 8,000 schoolgirls by improving access to safe menstrual hygiene products and encouraging awareness about menstrual health. Additionally, this CSR initiative will also help in strengthening livelihood opportunities for rural women by promoting employment, skill development and self-reliance.

It is hereby noted that the ‘Pakhi’ sanitary pad manufacturing unit at Piparkhad village was established under CSR by NCL’s Jhingurda Area in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (BHU) Varanasi. The unit is operated by women of the Avanti Bai Self-Help Group under the National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Besides manufacturing sanitary pads, the women associated with the unit are also trained and sensitized about menstrual health and the myths surrounding it. Through this Unit, the local women are gaining access to employment, skill enhancement and economic empowerment.
