NHPC contributes Rs 1 cr to Chief Minister Relief Fund of Himachal Pradesh

New Delhi: NHPC Limited's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) AK Singh handed over payment intimation advice of Rs 1 crore to Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Jai Ram Thakur as NHPC's contribution towards Chief Minister Relief Fund (CMRF) on Januaury 23 at Shimla (HP), said the Ministry of Power in a statement on Monday. The Chief Minister Relief Fund is used when natural calamities or tragedies strike a state. It is provided to affected residents for immediate relief to minimise the grief and loss of the people. It is also utilised for humanitarian purposes in adverse circumstances.

The Himachal Chief Minister asked the NHPC CMD to expedite works related to 500 MW Dugar Hydroelectric Project (HP) and assured his support to NHPC in attaining clearances for the early implementation of the project. The CM also asked NHPC to take up pumped storage projects in the state. During the meeting, Himachal's Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh was also present.
