POWERGRID to construct ‘POWERGRID OT Complex’ at ACTREC, Mumbai

POWERGRID has extended financial support of Rs 26.40 crore for development of a modular operation theatre complex (POWERGRID OT Complex) at ACTREC, Mumbai under its CSR initiative

New Delhi: Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), a Maharatna PSU under the Ministry of Power, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Advance Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC), Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a cancer research institute, under the Department of Atomic Energy, for construction of "POWERGRID OT Complex" – a modular operation theatre complex at ACTREC, TMC, Navi Mumbai. The MoU has been signed by POWERGRID's (Personnel) VK Singh and ACTREC's Director Dr Sudeep Gupta in presence of DK Singh ED (Northern Region-I), SD Joshi ED (Western Region-II), MK Singh, ED (CSR & ESMD), POWERGRID and other senior officials of POWERGRID and TMC.

POWERGRID under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives is extending financial support to the tune of Rs 26.40 crore for developing this modular operation theatre complex (14 numbers) for women and children cancer hospital, ACTREC, TMC, Navi Mumbai. "POWERGRID OT COMPLEX" will ensure a high degree of sterility to prevent infections, help in the reduction of health care costs, improve outcomes and ensure treatment of more patients.

POWERGRID had earlier entered into an MoU with TMC in 2016-17 for providing financial assistance of Rs 30 crore for construction of Radiation Research Unit at ACTREC, TMC, Kharghar, Navi Mumbai with an objective to provide ambulatory and in-patient care for patients requiring treatment with integrated nuclear therapy. The total project cost of Rs 60 crore for this ground plus 7-floor building is being funded in the ratio of 50:50 by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and POWERGRID.

At the end of the first quarter of the current financial year (1QFY'21), the total transmission assets of POWERGRID and its subsidiaries stood at 1,63,695 km of transmission lines, 248 sub-stations and more than 4,13,950 MVA of transformation capacity.
