REC provides relief to persons with disabilities under CSR

REC Foundation has completed 25 distribution camps in different locations across the country for providing aids & appliances to persons with disabilities through ALIMCO

New Delhi: REC Limited, through its CSR arm, REC Foundation has completed 25 distribution camps in different locations across the country providing aids and appliances through Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO). The aids and appliances included tri-cycle, folding wheelchair, Baisakhi, walking stick, hearing machine, smart cane, cellphone, braille kit, etc. In all, about 8961 people across India, from economically weaker sections were benefited with 33,536 nos. of aids and assistive devices.

Each distribution camp was preceded with an assessment camp where beneficiary identification, measurements of a required assistive device were taken wherever required and then the devices were manufactured. The 25th camp was held at Katihar, Bihar wherein 271 beneficiaries with disabilities from underprivileged sections of the society were provided with 471 nos. of aids and assistive devices.

On the occasion, Member of Parliament Dulal Chandra Goswami was the Chief Guest along with other dignitaries namely, Rajiv Ranjan (Executive Director, District Social Security Cell) Anil Kumar  (Advisor, REC Foundation) and officials of the district administration.
