RINL provides 5 battery operated cars to facilitate patient transport at KGH

New Delhi/Visakhapatnam: RINL-Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VPS) has presented five battery-operated cars for KGH, Vizag as part of its corporate environment responsibility (CER) initiative on Thursday.

At a function held at KGH, Dr A Mallikarjuna (IAS) District Collector and District Magistrate, Visakhapatnam & Chairman of Hospital Development Society, KGH along with AK Bagchi, Director (Projects) & Additional Charge Director (Operations) RINL-VSP inaugurated the battery cars in the august presence of Dr P Ashok Kumar, Superintendent, KGH; Dr G Butchi Raju, Principal, Andhra Medical College and a host of senior doctors and senior officials of RINL.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mallikarjuna appreciated the noble gesture of CMD and Management of RINL in coming forward towards providing the much needed battery-operated cars towards internal transportation of the patients within KGH premises.

Speaking on the occasion, Bagchi said, “It is indeed a matter of pride and privilege for RINL to have associated with such a noble cause. It gives us immense happiness that RINL has been supporting the needy and underprivileged in society.

RINL took the imitative of providing five of environment friendly battery-operated vehicles ( two wheelchair allowance vehicles and three of six-seater vehicles) at an expenditure of around Rs 40 lakhs to King George Hospital, Visakhapatnam under RINL’s corporate environment responsibility (CER) initiative.

These five batter operated cars will greatly help towards the conveyance of patients and their attendants viz. poor, old aged, differently abled, injured, pregnant women, mother & child other needy people within the premises of KGH i.e. casualty/OP ward to the concerned departments/wards/ labs/diagnostic centres etc. as per prescribed medical procedure round the clock in 3-cycle shifts and General shift.
