New Delhi: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) is making notable progress in the fight against tuberculosis (TB) as part of the 100-day National TB Eradication Program, launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. SECL is conducting free TB tests and awareness programs for employees and the public through its Nikshay camps.
SECL has successfully conducted TB tests for 2,389 individuals across 48 Nikshay camps, which were organized at its headquarters in Bilaspur and operational areas, including Korba, Raigarh, Korea, and Surajpur in Chhattisgarh. The initiative aims to enhance early detection and treatment of TB, contributing to the national goal of eradicating the disease.
In addition to free testing, SECL is actively raising awareness on TB prevention and treatment. Key initiatives include the Nishchay oath, awareness campaigns at religious places, educational programs in nearby communities, and interactive competitions for school children. These activities are designed to promote widespread awareness and encourage TB elimination efforts.
Aligned with the National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), SECL’s involvement in this campaign supports the government’s vision to eliminate TB by 2025, as set forth by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. SECL’s commitment to public health and its role in the National Strategic Plan (NSP) 2017-2025 are pivotal in the ongoing fight against TB.
