SECL honored with CSR Excellence award by World CSR Institute

New Delhi: Coal Miniratna South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) has been awarded the CSR Excellence Award for its remarkable work in the field of corporate social responsbility (CSR). This award has been presented by the World CSR Institute on February 18 at a function organised in the evening in Mumbai. Entries were invited from prominent industrial establishments, public undertakings and other organisations across the country for the said award and SECL has been selected for the said award, for its valuable contribution in key areas like economy, health, innovation and sustainable development.

It may be noted that various types of developmental activities are being continuously conducted by SECL under CSR in its operating states of MP and Chhattisgarh. In the last eight years, the company has spent an overall amount of more than Rs 700 crores under CSR, out of which about Rs 500 crores has been spent on various developmental works in the state of Chhattisgarh.

Under CSR, the company has made notable contribution in the areas of promoting education, increasing health facilities, access to drinking water, skill development, rural development, environment, helping persons with disabilities and ex-servicemen, promoting sports etc. SECL has given financial support to the state government for operating Exclusive COVID Treatment Center in the districts of Bilaspur and Ambikapur during the COVID period. With the help of SECL, a CT scan and MRI scan machine has been made available in CIMS Bilaspur at a cost of about Rs 20 crore, due to which the facility of modern testing has been made available to the common people at a very low cost.

SECL has also given financial assistance for setting up smart class rooms in 500 government schools of Korba district, while funds have been allocated for the facility of smart classes in various government schools in Raigad district. SECL has provided financial assistance of about Rs 2.7 crores for the development of infrastructure of 3 English medium schools in Bilaspur city.

SECL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Dr Prem Sagar Mishra and Functional Directors of SECL welcomed the news of SECL receiving the said CSR Excellence Award and conveyed their best wishes for the future. The SECL delegation in the said award function held in Mumbai included Ratnesh Shrivastav, General Manager (CSR/Welfare) and Sanish Chandra, Public Relations Officer of SECL.
