New Delhi: Ministry of Defence's Joint Secretary Anurag Bajpai (IFS) has been appointed as Government Nominee Director of Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence PSU under the Ministry of Defence. Bajpai has been appointed to the post with effect from October 29 in place of Dr Amit Sahai. This information has been shared by the Defence PSU during a regulatory filing to the stock exchange on Wednesday.

Bajpai's profile

Bajpai is a 1994-batch Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer of Manipur-Tripura cadre. Currently, he is posted as Joint Secretary (P&C) in the Department of Defence Production under the Ministry of Defence. He has served various important positions in the state government. Prior to joining the Department of Defence, he has served the Ministry of Tribal Affair and Ministry of Minority Affairs in the Central Government. He also holds as Addl. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & CEO of Mission for Economic Empowerment of Traditional Artisans & Craftsmen (MEETAC).

Bharat Electronics Limited 

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) is a state-owned aerospace and defence company with about nine factories and several regional offices in India. The organisation is owned by the government and primarily manufactures advanced electronic products for the Indian Armed Forces. BEL is one of nine PSUs under the Ministry of Defence of India. It has been granted Navratna status by the government.
