BDL completes first-off production model of Advanced Akash Weapon System

New Delhi: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) has successfully completed the First-off Production Model (FOPM) of the Advanced Akash Weapon System, marking a significant milestone in strengthening India’s indigenous defence capabilities, the company said in a regulatory filing on Thursday.

The upgraded system incorporates advanced sub-systems aimed at enhancing operational performance and boosting the combat readiness of the Indian Armed Forces. The company stated that the weapon system demonstrated high precision in engaging a range of aerial threats, reaffirming its capability to deliver complex and technologically advanced defence systems.

According to BDL, the successful completion of the FOPM is expected to pave the way for the commencement of deliveries of the Advanced Akash Weapon System to the armed forces in the near future.
