New Delhi: Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a Navratna Defence Public Sector Undertaking, announced on Wednesday that it has secured a significant order valued at Rs 850 crore from Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). The contract is for the supply of indigenous Multi-Function Radar (MFR) operating in the X Band.
The order has been handed over to BEL's General Manager (ADSN), TD Nandakumar, by CSL's Director (Operations), Sreejith, in the presence of key executives, including BEL's Director (Marketing) Suresh Kumar K.V., CSL's Director (Finance) Jose V.J., and BEL Executive Director (National Marketing) Prabha Goyal.
The indigenous radar, developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEL, is designed to detect, acquire, and track airborne targets, offering enhanced protection to naval vessels.
In addition to this, BEL reported receiving further orders worth ₹305 crore, following its August 22, 2024, disclosure. These orders encompass a range of systems, including navigational complexes for ships, thermal imagers, communication equipment, fire control systems, and related spares and services.
With the latest contract, BEL's total order book for the current financial year has reached Rs 7,075 crore.
