New Delhi: Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has secured orders worth Rs 1,292 crore, including a major contract valued at Rs 1,034 crore (excluding taxes) with the Ministry of Defence for the supply of Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and Data Communication Terminals (DCTs) for the Indian Coast Guard.
The state-of-the-art SDRs, indigenously developed in collaboration with Defence Electronics Application Laboratory (DEAL), a unit of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and BEL, are designed to support multi-band, multi-channel, and multi-role/mission operations. These advanced communication systems are crucial for enabling Network-Centric Warfare capabilities. The DCT system further enhances communication between shore-based stations and naval vessels with improved accuracy, speed, security, and reliability, ensuring seamless coordination during critical missions.
In addition to this landmark contract, BEL has received additional orders worth Rs 258 crore. These include the supply of an Earth Station for Satellite Communication, Laser Range Finders, Fire Control Centres, Command and Control Posts, Communication Equipment for Weapon Systems, Head-Up Displays, spares, and associated services. The latest orders reinforce BEL’s leadership in delivering cutting-edge defence electronics solutions.
With these new contracts, BEL’s cumulative order intake for the current financial year has reached Rs 13,147 crore, underscoring its strong market position and sustained contribution to India's defence preparedness.
BEL continues to leverage its technological expertise to support the nation’s defence forces with advanced, indigenously developed solutions, aligning with the government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ initiative and strengthening India's defence manufacturing ecosystem.
