New Delhi/KGF: BEML Limited on Tuesday said that it has commissioned a state-of-the-art robotic welding cell and a modern Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) Axle Assembly Shop at its Kolar Gold Fields (KGF) manufacturing complex.
The new facilities have been inaugurated by BEML's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Shantanu Roy, in the presence of Director (Mining & Construction) Sanjay Som, Head of KGF Complex Yogananda G and senior company officials.
The robotic welding cell, set up as part of BEML’s ongoing modernisation programme, will be used for manufacturing critical components for earthmoving dozers. Equipped with advanced technologies such as pulse welding systems and laser-based sensing solutions, the facility is expected to enhance productivity, ensure consistent weld quality and significantly reduce rework, thereby improving overall manufacturing efficiency.
In addition, the newly commissioned HMV Axle Assembly Shop has an installed capacity of nine axles per day and is supported by advanced infrastructure for axle assembly, sub-assembly and end-of-line testing. Designed in line with green manufacturing principles, the facility features ergonomically engineered workstations aimed at improving workplace safety, operational efficiency and employee well-being.
BEML has also operationalised a dedicated GEMBA area at the KGF complex. The GEMBA workplace enables real-time visual monitoring of performance metrics, operational challenges and improvement initiatives, facilitating quicker decision-making, better cross-functional coordination and enhanced employee engagement.
