Spread over 0.12 acres, the newly built facility has been inaugurated by BEML's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Shantanu Roy in the presence of functional directors, senior company officials, and KIADB dignitaries. Alongside the inauguration, the foundation stone was laid for Phase II of the project, which will develop an additional 1.15 acres of aerospace infrastructure in the same SEZ.

BEML holds a total of 25 acres of land in the Aerospace SEZ, earmarked for the development of a comprehensive industrial hub that will support manufacturing, MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) services, and global exports in the defence and aviation sectors.

Speaking on the occasion, Roy said, “The inauguration of this warehousing facility marks a significant step in BEML’s journey to becoming a key enabler in India’s aerospace and defence ecosystem. This is more than just infrastructure—it’s a strategic foundation for future capabilities in advanced manufacturing, MRO services, and global exports aligned with international OEM standards.”

The Phase-I facility is part of a broader vision that includes setting up a 20-acre advanced manufacturing unit to produce aerostructures, drones, aggregates, and components for air defence and allied sectors. The unit will be developed through collaborations with global aerospace OEMs, positioning BEML as a significant player in international aerospace manufacturing.

To support its warehousing operations, BEML has partnered with LOM Supply Chain India Pvt. Ltd., a logistics service provider with expertise in SEZ and domestic operations. The facility will not only cater to BEML’s internal logistics but also offer warehousing and allied services to other OEMs, as well as Tier-1 and Tier-2 suppliers.

With strong connectivity via NH-7, the Outer Ring Road, and proximity to the international airport, the Aerospace SEZ facility is expected to become a logistics and manufacturing hub. The project is also set to create over 500 employment opportunities, contributing to the local economy.

Looking ahead, BEML aims to establish a Centre of Excellence for Aerospace Technologies within the SEZ, driving innovation, collaboration, and indigenous capability-building in line with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ mission.
