New Delhi: Beating all odds, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has finished the construction of the 2.5-kilometre stretch of the road from Lakhanpur to Najang this week under Project Hirak. The stretch, which is part of the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra circuit, is set to be completed by the BRO by December 2020. "BRO has connected Lakhanpur to Najang on January 15, 2019. This stretch is of 2.5 kilometres' length and BRO has been able to connect Najang to mainland despite all odds," a release said.

"This connectivity is very important, being chicken neck corridor with Nepal in Dharchula sub-division of Uttarakhand, where the only alternative route was a mule track passing below the new road alignment," Border Roads Organisation officials said.

"BRO shall be able to connect the complete stretch from Najang to Budhi as per planned timelines"- Lt Gen Harpal Singh, Director-General, BRO

According to DG Border Roads (DGBR), Lt Gen Harpal Singh, "Border Roads Organisation shall be able to connect the complete stretch from Najang to Budhi as per planned timelines."

"This connectivity is very important, being chicken neck corridor with Nepal in Dharchula sub-division of Uttarakhand, where the only alternative route was a mule track passing below the new road alignment,"

"This will also provide round the clock connectivity to the army troops deployed in Vyas valley," he said. There were four attack points created between Lakhanpur & Najang and the work was going on simultaneously on every point interspersed with virgin hilly terrain.
