Cdr. Vasudev Puranik gets additional charge as Director (S&HE) of MDL

The Ministry of Defence has assigned the additional responsibility of MDL's Director (Submarine & Heavy Engineering) post to Commander Vasudev Puranik

New Delhi: The Ministry of Defence has assigned the additional responsibility of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders' (MDL) Director (Submarine & Heavy Engineering) post to Commander Vasudev Puranik for three months. He has been given additional charge of the post upon relieving of services of Commander Jasbir Singh with immediate effect. Presently, Puranik is serving as Director (Submarine & Heavy Engineering) in the same organisation.

"...approval of competent authority that Director (Submarine & Heavy Engineering), MDL, Cdr Jasbir Singh is relieved of this charge with immediate effect and Cdr. Vasudev Puranik, Director (CP & P), MDL is given the current charge of the post of Director (Submarine & Heavy Engineering), MDL, for a period of three months or till the further orders, whichever is earlier.” MDL informed in a regulatory filing to the stock exchanges on Tuesday.

Puranik is an alumnus of INS Shivaji, he holds a B Tech (Mechanical) degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University. He has also completed Masters in Engineering from Pune University. Previously, he has served in the Indian Navy for over 22 years and has held several assignments afloat and onboard such as INS Rana, INS Nishank, INS Mysore and various appointments in Directorate of Naval Design, Gas Turbine Overhaul Centre, Visakhapatnam, Directorate of Ship Production and Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
