Chief of Naval Staff Visits GRSE

Admiral Lanba reviewed the yard’s modernisation initiatives, shipbuilding projects and also visited Yard 3020, a ASW Corvette under construction

Kolkata: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba, alongwith Vice Admiral Karambir Singh, visited GRSE on Tuesday. During the walk around the premises, CMD GRSE, Rear Adm VK Saxena, showcased the shipbuilding facilities of GRSE, spread across two distinct locations at Main Works and FOJ Unit in Kolkata.

GRSE has a strong order book of Rs 28,000 crore (approx) currently, after having bagged two orders on competitive bidding recently. "GRSE has laid the foundation to set sail on a strong growth trajectory with its capacity to construct 20 ships concurrently, a 100-member strong design team and after having achieved the historical milestone of delivering 100 warships since 1960, ranging from frigates, ASW and missile corvettes to fast attack crafts," an official release said.
