Cmde Girideep Singh appointed as Director (Strategic Project) of HSL

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Commodore Girideep Singh as Director (Strategic Project) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Commodore Girideep Singh as Director (Strategic Project) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL), Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Commodore Singh has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. January 31, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Commodore Singh was recommended for the post of Director (Strategic Project) of HSL by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel on September 27, 2021. He is currently serving as a Commodore in the Indian Navy. In his new role, Singh will be responsible for putting in place the necessary infrastructure and preparing for the construction of strategic vessels and for planning and monitoring the construction of small strategic vessels and also conventional submarines. He also will be responsible for the repair or refit of ships, submarines, merchant vessels and marine structures. 

Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL)

HSL is a Miniratna Defence PSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defence. It is the largest and most strategically located shipyard. The yard has built 174 vessels and repaired about 1940 vessels for Defence and Maritime Sector. HSL's design capability embraces a wide spectrum of general and special purpose vessels like the medium size Bulk Carriers of size up to 70,000 DWT, as well as product tankers, container vessels, dredgers, passenger ferries, survey vessels etc.
