COVID-19: GRSE first Defence PSU to set up a dedicated vaccination centre

New Delhi/Kolkata: Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) has undertaken an initiative to vaccinate its employees by setting up a dedicated COVID Vaccination Centre at its Main unit, Kolkata. It is pertinent to mention here that many PSUs have carried out vaccination drives in their make-shift camps but GRSE's is the first dedicated centre for vaccination of employees and contractual workers. Thus with this vaccination centre, GRSE becomes the first Defence PSU to set up a dedicated vaccination centre for its employees. The vaccination drive is being organised with support from the State Urban Development Agency (SUDA) and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of West Bengal.

"The shipyard stands firm in its commitment towards the country's fight against COVID-19 through this dedicated centre which will provide vaccination to all regular and contractual employees of the company, commencing from May 31," defence PSU said in an official statement.

The COVID-19 Vaccination centre has been inaugurated by GRSE's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Rear Admiral VK Saxena, IN (Retd.) in the presence of GRSE's Director (Shipbuilding) Cmde Sanjeev Nayyar IN (Retd.), Director (Personnel) Cmde PR Hari IN (Retd.) and Director (Finance) RK Dash and other senior officials.

GRSE has been instrumental in containing the spread of the first and second waves of COVID-19 with the spirit of resilience. Taking utmost care of the staff and their families who have suffered in the pandemic, the Shipyard has established a dedicated COVID care response team working 24×7.

Earlier, GRSE has signed MoU with two medical institutions in Kolkata, the Saroj Gupta Cancer Centre & Research Institute, Thakurpukur and Bharat Sevashram Sangha Hospital, Joka, to set up two Medical Oxygen Plants and donated 02 ambulances to Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math.
