New Delhi: Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV) and the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on research and development of advanced smart technologies aimed at strengthening India’s national security architecture.
The MoU has been formalised in New Delhi in the presence of Dr Samir V. Kamat, Chairman of DRDO and Secretary, Defence R&D. He said the partnership would accelerate the development of technological solutions for the deployment of indigenous defence systems.
Under the agreement, GSV and DRDO will jointly undertake research in key domains such as logistics management, operational logistics across tactical, operational and strategic levels, chip design, hardware security, and emerging encryption technologies including homomorphic and blockchain-based systems.
The collaboration aims to boost the capabilities of researchers and scientists in military sciences, logistics, and advanced technical research. As part of the partnership, both organisations will conduct joint studies, seminars, conferences, workshops and capacity-building initiatives. The MoU was signed by GSV Vice Chancellor Prof. Manoj Choudhary and Dr Lal Chand Mangal, DS & DG (TM), DRDO.
GSV already has established partnerships with the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy for research and education in logistics and supply chain management. The new MoU with DRDO further strengthens the university’s growing role in the defence innovation ecosystem and expands its scope for cutting-edge research.
Established in 2022 under an Act of Parliament, Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya is India’s first university dedicated to the transportation and logistics sector. Functioning under the Ministry of Railways, the university’s academic and research portfolio spans railways, highways, ports, aviation, maritime, shipping, inland waterways, urban transport and logistics networks. The institution is headed by Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, who serves as its Chancellor.
