This agreement follows the ‘Option Agreement’ previously signed between both entities for the procurement of four additional MPVs from GRSE. With this latest contract, GRSE will build a total of eight such vessels, with the entire project valued at approximately $108 million.

Each MPV will measure 120 metres in length and 17 metres in width, with a maximum draft of 6.75 metres. The vessels are designed to carry up to 7,500 metric tonnes of cargo. Featuring a single cargo hold, they are capable of accommodating bulk, general, and project cargoes, with containers to be transported on hatch covers. Notably, these vessels have been specially designed to transport multiple large windmill blades on deck, highlighting their versatility and adaptability to modern shipping needs.

The contract for the 7th and 8th MPVs was signed by Cdr Prasenjit Roy, IN (Retd), Deputy General Manager (Commercial Shipbuilding), GRSE, and Mr. Thomas Rehder, Managing Director, Carsten Rehder.
