New Delhi: In response to a spate of speculative and allegedly malicious reports circulating in the media and on digital platforms, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has issued an official clarification, addressing concerns raised following the recent accident involving an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) operated by the Indian Coast Guard.
In its media statement, the Maharatna defence Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) emphasized that several articles and commentaries, particularly by individuals claiming expertise in defence matters—including former defence personnel and self-styled analysts—have been published without presenting HAL’s viewpoint. The company flagged these narratives as one-sided and factually incorrect, further alleging that some references were based on outdated issues which have long been resolved in consultation with stakeholders.
"These stories are authored without offering HAL's perspective, and arguments are one-sided and biased," the company said in its statement. It also noted that the speculative reporting, which intensified after the January incident, could potentially harm the interests of its stakeholders.
HAL reiterated its commitment to working closely with all its customers, including the Indian Air Force, and assured that it is well-equipped to address the inherent complexities of defence aviation and sophisticated flying platforms. However, the company noted that it cannot engage with each piece of reportage individually, citing the sensitive nature of defence products and operations.
“HAL would like to reiterate that it is working with all its customers and is confident of handling critical issues intrinsic to the defence aeronautics sector,” the release added.
The company urged stakeholders to exercise discretion and avoid being influenced by what it described as “unwarranted and speculative stories.” The statement serves to reassure shareholders, partners, and the public of HAL’s transparency and dedication to operational integrity and national defence.
