New Delhi: Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) has organised one day workshop on Wednesday on 'Challenges in Aero Materials.' Scientific Advisor to Defence Minister Dr G Satheesh Reddy was chief guest to the workshop. Delegates from designers, users, certification agencies, quality assurance agencies, research laboratories, manufacturers and technocrats have participated in the workshop to deliberate on opportunities in material developments for current and future aero engines; challenges and bottlenecks in material developments & certification for current and future aero engines; advanced manufacturing technologies developed and used for aero engine material; strategies/facilities required to improve material manufacturing for aerospace; role of R&D in next-generation materials; collaborative approaches & government policies required in indigenisation of products for Indian aero programmes; rationalisation of metallic material and specification.

The Chief Guest of the event Dr Reddy congratulated all MIDHANIans on the occasion of Golden Jubilee Year and also appreciated MIDHANI'S continuous contribution in Atmanirbhar Bharat Mission. He has encouraged the esteemed house to discuss and deliberate on materials required & the challenges expected in detail so that India's indigenous programme of engine and airframe development can be taken up smoothly. Further he adviced that the required material can be divided into two parts. One which is openly available in Market and another which need to imported as complete part. India need to be Atmnirbhar for the material available in open market.

MIDHANI's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Dr SK Jha welcomed the chief guest and all the delegates from GTRE, ADA, HAL units, DMRL, CEMILAC, DGAQA. He has mentioned MIDHANI's contribution in various strategic programme, status of expansion programme in product and equipment, challanges faced in indigenising aeronautical material in his opening remark. He also mentioned that 2023 is golden jubilee year for MIDHANI.

Delegates from GTRE, HAL, DMRL, RCMA has brought out the opportunities for material manufacturing industry.

The programme has been enriched with very critical review of the panellist on the subject.
