MIDHANI dispatches titanium & super-alloy products for HAL’s LCA & ALH

New Delhi/Hyderabad: Hyderabad based Miniratna Defence PSU, Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) on Thursday flagged off the consignment of titanium and superalloy products to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for HAL's Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) programs.

The consignment was flagged off by HAL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) R Madhavan, MIDHANI's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Dr SK Jha and MIDHANI's Director (Finance) N Gowri Sankara Rao. MIDHANI has been supplying various critical raw materials and products of titanium alloys, speciality alloys, superalloys, special steels to meet the strategic need of HAL, space, defence and nuclear power programs of India.

MIDHANI had developed more than 50 high-performance alloys used in the manufacturing of fighter aircraft and Helicopters for HAL and the Indian Air force. In the past, these alloys were procured from foreign vendors by Indian companies.

The high-performance alloys are developed and manufactured with the active support of Airworthiness Agencies like CEMILAC & DGAQA meeting the specific quality and technical requirements considering its critical applications.

MIDHANI has recently supplied a titanium alloy based airframe part of AMCA developed for the first time in India. Further, MIDHANI is taking a lead in a project for the development of various new high-performance alloys for advanced materials and forming technologies for aero Engine Components.

Further, MIDHANI & HAL are working together in setting up a joint facility for the development and production of composite raw materials. Composite raw materials, mainly Prepregs, used in platforms like LCA, ALH, LCH and LUH, are currently imported.
