New Delhi: Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI), a Defence PSU has played an active role in the successfully launched Chandrayaan-3 Mission, which was launched on Friday afternoon. It has developed and supplied various critical and strategic materials for LVM3 M4, a three-stage heavy lift launch vehicle, for launch of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.

Several tones of material goes into the making of the LVM3 M4. MIDHANI has supplied Cobalt base alloys, Nickel base alloys, Titanium alloys and Special steels for Liquid engine, Nozzles for liquid stages, Gas bottles, Thrusters, Cryogenic upper stage components, Rocket motor casing, Propellant tanks and Investment castings of nickel alloys, Stainless steel for Exhaust Unit.

MIDHANI has also supplied Special steels and Titanium alloys for the critical parts of the mission such as Propulsion module of lander separator band and various structural components of Lander and Rover.

The spacecraft has successfully taken off from Earth and is now in orbit around the planet in its journey towards the Moon. It has many critical events lined up, including earth-bound manoeuvres, insertion into the lunar orbit, separation of the lander, a set of deboost manoeuvres and a power descent phase for a soft landing.

MIDHANI’s partnership with ISRO spans over four decades. MIDHANI’s materials are used from the first launch of ISRO till the current launch and continuing to work for the ISRO’s ambitious Gaganyaan Mission & other futuristic programmes of ISRO.
