New Delhi: Navratna defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has issued a clarification against an article published regarding GE 414 ToT programme. In its formal clarification, the defence PSU has firmly denied claims suggesting a breakdown in its negotiations with General Electric (GE) regarding the Transfer of Technology (ToT) for the production of GE414 engines in India.
The report, published by (http://www.idrw.org), alleged that discussions between HAL and GE had stalled and that HAL was exploring alternative options with another engine manufacturer. In response, HAL issued a formal clarification on Tuesday, stating that the report is "factually incorrect and misleading."
The defence PSU emphasized that its negotiations with GE are "on track and progressing well." It further confirmed that there are no ongoing talks with any other engine manufacturer concerning the same programme.
HAL is leading the indigenous manufacturing plan for the GE414 engine, which is expected to power future variants of India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and other advanced fighter platforms. The GE414 deal is a key component of the India-U.S. defence cooperation framework, aimed at strengthening domestic defence manufacturing under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
