New Delhi: The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), the head hunter body of the government which is responsible for the selection of personnel in the posts of Chairman, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) and Functional Directors in the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) does not find any suitable candidate for Hindustan Aeronautics Limited's (HAL) CMD post. The selection panel's interview-cum selection meeting was held on Wednesday, in which three candidates appeared. Out of three candidates, two candidates were from HAL and one from Pawan Hans Limited (PHHL).

"The Board did not recommend any candidate for the post and observed the administrative Ministry/Department to obtain approval of the competent authority for constituting a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC)," the PESB panel said in a notification issued on August 10.

In February 2022, HAL had posted a job vacancy for the engagement of CMD through the PESB portal. The post is vacant since August 1. However, HAL Director (Finance) CB Ananthakrishnan is holding an additional charge of the CMD post.

HAL is a Miniratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence. It is the flagship aerospace company of the county with comprehensive skills set in the design, development, manufacture, maintenance and upgrade of fighters, trainers, helicopters, transport aircraft, engines, avionic systems, and accessories. HAL's major supplies and services are to the Indian Defence Services-IAF, Army, Navy and Coast Guard.
