Nashik: President Ram Nath Kovind presented the President's Colours to the 'Army Aviation Corps' in Nashik on Thursday. The president had presented this highest honour to 'Corps of Army Air Defence' at Gopalpur last month.
While speaking on the occasion the President recalled Army Aviation Corps's contributing during the war and peace and said that it has earned 273 honours and awards for conspicuous gallantry and distinguished service.
The President paid homage to the martyrs of the Army Aviation Corps and said that their blood and sacrifice have secured our sovereignty and brought glory to our nation. He said that "members of the Army Aviation Corps have been true force multipliers in some of the most inhospitable terrains and adverse climatic conditions in the world, the Indian Army and the nation are proud of them". The Army Aviation Corps is a component of the Indian Army, formed on November 1, 1986. The aviation arm is headed by a Director-General of the rank of Lt General at the Army HQ, New Delhi.
