New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) headed by Prime Minister has approved the appointment of Gowri Sankara Rao as Director (Finance) of Mishra Dhatu Nigam (MIDHANI) on Wednesday. According to an order from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Rao has been appointed to the post for a period with effect from the date of his assumption of charge of the post till the date of his superannuation i.e. May 31, 2025, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. He is currently serving as General Manager in RINL-VSP.

Earlier, PSU Watch had reported that Rao was recommended for the post of Director (Finance) of MIDHANI by the PESB panel on July 3. He was selected from the list of five candidates, who were interviewed by the selection panel. There were a total of two candidates, including Rao, who were from RINL and others were from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited and Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited.

New role & responsibility

As Director (Finance) of MIDHANI, Rao will be overall in charge of the finance and accounts of the organisation and also will be responsible for evolving and formulating policies related to finance and accounts as well as implementation thereof.

Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) is a specialized metals and metal alloys manufacturing facility in India, located in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is a Public Sector Undertaking (PSU), under the administrative control of Department of Defence Production, Ministry of Defence, Government of India. MIDHANI is the only producer of Titanium in India. MIDHANI specializes in manufacturing a wide range of superalloys, titanium, special purpose steels and other special metals and alloys meeting stringent international standards for application in aerospace, defence, atomic energy, power generation, chemical and various other high technology industries.
