Ruchir Agarwal appointed as Director (Finance) of MDL

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Ruchir Agarwal as the Director (Finance) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) on March 5

New Delhi: Ruchir Agarwal has been appointed as the Director (Finance) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved his appointment on March 5. The approval was granted based on the proposal from the Department of Defence Production.

According to an order issued from the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) issued on March 5, Agarwal will assume the new role for a period of five years, effective from the date of his assumption of charge, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director (Finance) at Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s (IOCL) R&D Centre, Faridabad.

Agrawal is a distinguished professional with over 31 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India and the Institute of Chartered Ship Brokers, London. 

Having joined Indian Oil in 1994, Agrawal has held key positions across various departments, including International Trade, Treasury, Business Development, R&D, and Corporate Audit. He has also served as a board member for multiple joint ventures and subsidiaries of Indian Oil, both in India and abroad. 

With extensive expertise in Treasury, Shipping, International Trade, Gas, Corporate Finance, and Exploration & Production (E&P), Agrawal has played a crucial role in strategic initiatives. He has been actively involved in restructuring joint ventures and subsidiaries, enhancing market capitalization, and was instrumental in establishing India's first finance company by a non-finance company in IFSC, Gandhinagar.

With a robust background in finance and extensive experience at Indian Oil, Agarwal is expected to bring valuable expertise to MDL, a premier shipbuilding company playing a crucial role in India’s maritime defence capabilities.
