Shailesh Vagerwal assumes charge as CMD of BDL

Shailesh Vagerwal has assumed charge as new Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on Thursday

New Delhi: Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) on Thursday announced that Shailesh Vagerwal has assumed charge as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). Prior to joining BDL, he was serving as Chief General Manager at Ordnance Factory, Khamaria, Jabalpur, a unit of Munitions India Limited.

Vagerwal is an officer of the Indian Ordnance Factories Service (IOFS) and has served in several key positions across the ordnance factory ecosystem. He has nearly three decades of experience in the defence manufacturing sector.

A mechanical engineering graduate from MBM Engineering College, Jodhpur, Vagerwal also holds a Master of Science degree in Explosive Ordnance Engineering from Cranfield University, United Kingdom.

During his career, he has held leadership roles at Ordnance Factory Dum Dum, Ordnance Factory Itarsi, Ordnance Factory Khamaria and the corporate office of Munitions India Limited in Pune.

His experience spans ammunition and explosives production, strategic planning, administration, quality assurance, project management, procurement of plant and machinery, research and development, exports and business development, human resource management, material management and industrial relations.
