New Delhi: The government has assigned an additional charge of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) to Subrat Das (IPoS). According to an order issued on February 22 from the Department of Personnel & Traning (DoPT), Das has been given the additional charge of the post for a period of one year beyond December 12, 2020, or until further orders, whichever is earlier. Das is an Indian Postal Service (IPoS) officer of the 1991-batch. He is currently serving as CVO of the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).

As CVO of GRSE, Das advises the management on Integrity Pact, Public Grievances, general changes to increase efficiency and reduce wastage etc. He creates awareness on vigilance matters in the organization. He conducts seminars, addresses officers and writes articles on vigilance awareness. System improvements, watchfulness, ethics and organizational culture etc are non-punitive measures to achieve the goal of vigilance.

Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Limited (GRSE) is one of India's leading shipyards, located in Kolkata, West Bengal. It builds and repairs commercial and naval vessels. Presently, GRSE has also started building export ships in a mission to expand its business. Founded in 1884 as a small privately-owned company on the eastern bank of the Hooghly River, it was renamed as Garden Reach Workshop in 1916. The company was nationalised by the government in 1960.
