Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani visits HSL to review progress of refit works on EKM Submarine

New Delhi: Indian Navy’s Chief of Material (COM) Vice Admiral Sandeep Naithani (AVSM, VSM) visited Defence PSU Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) on Friday to review the progress of refit works on EKM Submarine. EKMs are one of the world's most commonly visible conventional submarines with 62 units currently in service across nine navies in the world.

HSL's Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Cmde Hemant Khatri, IN (Retd) highlighted that the refit works on Submarine are progressing at a brisk pace and the yard is confident to complete the refit of Submarine on time. He also expressed that HSL is hopeful to get more orders from the Indian Navy for the EKM Submarines based on the capabilities developed and performance in ongoing Submarine refit.

During the visit, COM appreciated the progress made by HSL in all domains in the past few years. He also applauded the repair work progressing on the EKM Submarine at HSL.
