5 coal mines of MCL win Safety Excellence Award

Five coal mines of MCL have been honoured with the Kalinga Safety Excellence Award for their outstanding safety performance in 2023

New Delhi: Five coal mines of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) have been honoured with the Kalinga Safety Excellence Award for their outstanding safety performance in 2023.

While Siarmal and Ananta open cast projects (OCP) received award in Platinum Category, Kaniha OCP, Kulda OCP and Basundhara (West) OCP won in Gold Category.

The awards, presented by the Deputy Chief Minster of Odisha Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo at Safety Conclave-2024 held in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. "This honour recognise MCL’s continuous commitment to safety and its proactive measures in maintaining safe working conditions across its operations," MCL said in an official statement.

MCL's Chairman-cum-Managing Director Uday Anant Kaole, congratulated the winning mines and acknowledged the exceptional efforts put forth by their teams.

Praising dedication of Team MCL to safety, the CMD said, “These awards reflect the relentless efforts of our teams to create a safe and efficient working environment. This recognition is a step forward in our journey towards excellence in safety.”
