The award was received by a team from GAIL comprising GAIL's Chief General Manager (Corporate Strategy Planning Advocacy & Corporate Affairs) Asim Prasad, GM (CSPA) Amitabh Ranjan, Chief Manager (CSPA) Priyanka Gupta, and Sr. Manager (CSPA) Koushik Basu.

GAIL currently submits approximately 500 distinct data sets to PPAC each month, which are critical to the generation of eight key industry reports. In a significant digital transformation initiative undertaken in FY 2024–25, GAIL further automated its data submission process through API integration, enhancing efficiency and accuracy in reporting.

Instituted on the occasion of its 24th Foundation Day, the PPAC Greenfinch Data Excellence Award recognises public and private sector companies for their excellence in data submission. The evaluation criteria include data quality, assurance practices, IT infrastructure, security, data availability and accessibility, innovation, and future readiness.

PPAC, functioning under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), plays a pivotal role in collecting and analysing industry data related to the production, import, consumption, and export of oil and natural gas in India. This data supports strategic decisions and reporting across the energy sector.

GAIL’s recognition underlines its commitment to technological innovation and operational excellence, especially in leveraging digital tools to streamline data processing and reporting mechanisms in alignment with national energy goals.
