New Delhi: The Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE) has won the BCC&I Social Leadership Award 2025 in the Healthcare & Empowerment, Holistic Development category. This awards recognises company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged children.
The award has been conferred at the Fourth Edition of the CSR Conclave & Social Leadership Awards 2025, organised by The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I). The honour was presented to Rajeev Shrivastava, General Manager (HR&A), GRSE, by Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, a noted authority on CSR and sustainability, at a ceremony held at Taj City Centre, Kolkata, on December 19.
The recognition was awarded for GRSE’s flagship CSR programme, Akanksha – Aiming High, which focuses on the holistic development of children from disadvantaged communities in Khidderpore, Kolkata. Implemented in partnership with CRY – Child Rights and You, the initiative covers education, healthcare, nutrition, psychosocial support, life skills development and community engagement.
According to the company, the programme has delivered sustained outcomes through structured interventions designed to address multiple dimensions of child welfare in urban settings.
The BCC&I Social Leadership Awards honour organisations that demonstrate leadership in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable social development. GRSE said its CSR approach is aligned with statutory requirements, robust governance standards and a long-term commitment to addressing social challenges alongside its core business operations.
