The MoU has been signed by BPCL's Executive Director (International Trade and Risk Management) Manoj Heda and SCI's Director (Bulk Carrier and Tankers Division) Atul Ubale. The signing ceremony was attended by BPCL's Director (Finance) Vetsa Ramakrishna Gupta and SCI's DGM I/c (Tanker Commercial) Dinesh Kutty. This collaboration aligns with the Government of India’s Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047, which seeks to position India as a global maritime leader.

The partnership is focused on developing a specialised shipping network dedicated to the transportation of crude oil, gas, and petroleum products, thereby enhancing supply chain efficiency. It also aims to drive operational efficiency, expand capabilities, and foster innovation within the maritime sector. Additionally, the collaboration is designed to establish a secure and resilient energy supply chain, contributing to India's energy security and self-reliance. The MoU represents a long-term commitment by both BPCL and SCI to explore opportunities that bolster India’s maritime strength and ensure reliable energy transportation.

BPCL's Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) G Krishnakumar highlighted the strategic significance of the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with SCI is a step towards building a world-class shipping ecosystem that supports India’s growing energy demands. This initiative not only strengthens our supply chain but also contributes to India's vision of becoming a global maritime leader. It aligns with the Government of India’s focus on self-reliance and energy security.”
