NCL organises 'Singrauli Industrial Summit 2024'

New Delhi: Northern Coalfields Limited (NCL), a flagship arm of Coal India Limited (CIL), organised “Singrauli Industrial Summit 2024” at NCL headquarters in Singrauli on Saturday.

During the event, Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development, Madhya Pradesh Radha Singh graced the event as the chief guest. Additionally MLA, Devsar Rajendra Meshram, APCCF / IFOS, Bhopal HS Mohanta, Member Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Bhopal, Achyut Anand Mishra, District Collector, (Singrauli), Chandrashekhar Shukla, CMD, NCL B Sairam, Superintendent of Police (Singrauli) Nivedita Gupta, Director (Personnel) Manish Kumar, Director (Finance) Rajneesh Narain, Director (Technical/Operations) Jitendra Malik, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) Sunil Prasad Singh, representatives of NTPC, Reliance, Hindalco, UltraTech Cement, MEIL Sonebhadra, MPIDC, MPSTDC, Grasim Industry Renukoot, Amelia Coal Mining, Adani group and others including NCL JCC members and CMOAI President were present. General Managers, HoDs and officers and employees from NCL’s all Areas/Units & NCL Headquarters remained present.

In the Summit, MoS Radha Singh and MLA, Devsar Rajendra Meshram addressed the inaugural session of Singrauli Industrial Summit-2024 and presented their views for the sustainable development of Singrauli. They applauded NCL for organizing Singrauli Industrial Summit towards optimal utilization of the industrial potential of the Singrauli region.

Additionally, IFOS/APCCF, HS Mohanta, Member Secretary, Madhya Pradesh Pollution Control Board, Achyut Anand Mishra, IAS, DM, (Singrauli) Chandrashekhar Shukla, Superintendent of Police (Singrauli) Nivedita Gupta also addressed the inaugural session of Singrauli Industrial Summit-2024. They emphasized upon the role of industries in the inclusive socio-economic and environmental development of the Singrauli region and also provided valuable suggestions for the overall development of the Singrauli region.

During the inaugural ceremony of the Summit, NCL CMD B Sairam welcomed all the dignitaries to the 'Singrauli Industrial Summit 2024' and outlined the objectives of the Singrauli Industrial Summit, the energy needs of the nation and NCL's contribution to the inclusive development of the Singrauli region and also underscored the benefits of adopting an integrated approach based on shared values for the holistic development of Singrauli.

During the Summit, a book named as "Industrial Landscape of Singrauli Region" also released through virtual medium. The Singrauli Industrial Summit marked a brainstorming session and discussion to create opportunities on various topics like energy (coal and thermal power plants), overall development of Singrauli, aluminum, cement, chemicals and infrastructure. Apart from this, an expert panel discussion session was also organised aiming the long-term development of Singrauli region.

It is worth noting that NCL despatched 94 percent of its total despatch of more than 137 million tonnes of its coal to power houses, which accountable for the generation of about 10 percent of the country's Power. More than 19,316 MW capacity Pit head power plants located in Singrauli region are dependent on NCL's coal. NCL has paid an exchequer of Rs 15,000 crores to the central and state governments in different categories in the last year 2023–24.
