NLCIL commissions first unit of NNTPS

With the commissioning of this unit, the total installed power generation capacity of NLC India Limited has crossed 5,000 MW

Neyveli: NLC India Limited (NLCIL) commissioned unit-1 of Neyveli New Thermal Power Station (NNTPS), of 2 Units of 500 MW each, on December 19. The formal clearance from Southern Regional Load Despatch Centre is under process.

The fuel for this plant-lignite will be sourced from Mines at Neyveli. The main plant packages are supplied and erected by Bharat Heavy Electronics Limited (BHEL).

This is the first 500 MW lignite-fired power boiler in the country and so far the highest capacity of lignite-fired boiler in India is up to 250 MW only.

With the commissioning of this unit, the total installed power generation capacity of NLC India Limited has crossed 5000 MW. The power from this plant will be supplied to the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Puducherry.
