NLCIL disburses enhanced compensation to project affected persons

An enhanced compensation of Rs 11.19 lakh was disbursed to the 17 beneficiaries, who had handed over their lands and home in Periyakurichi village to NLCIL

Neyveli: Project affected persons who had handed over their lands and home in Periyakurichi village to NLC India Limited (NLCIL) during the year 1999, for mining operations had filed an appeal for higher compensation. The cases were contested for more than 10 years. Meanwhile, 17 landowners come forward to settle their cases through Lok Adalat. Accordingly, settlements have arrived at the National Lok Adalat conducted at Madras High Court on December 14.

As per the settlement, an enhanced compensation of Rs 11,19,312 was disbursed to the 17 beneficiaries hailing from Periyakurichi village on the same day itself.

NLCIL's General Manager (Land Acquisition) N Sankaranarayanan and senior officers of NLCIL and Tamilnadu Revenue Department were also present on the occasion.
