Hyderabad: NMDC Limited, India’s largest iron ore producer, celebrated its 68th Foundation Day on November 15, marking over six decades of growth, technological advancement and leadership in the mining sector. The celebration featured the company’s flagship recognition platform, the CMD Excellence Awards, which honoured exemplary contributions by employees across its operations.

Established in 1958 as a single-unit operation, NMDC has grown into a globally recognised mining major. The Foundation Day event was attended by CMD Amitava Mukherjee, along with Directors Vishwanath Suresh (Commercial), Vinay Kumar (Technical), Joydeep Dasgupta (Production), and Priyadarshini (Personnel), Independent Directors, former directors, senior officials, employees and their families.

The CMD Excellence Awards have been presented across multiple categories, including Khanij Ratna (Individual and Group), NMDC Ratna (Individual and Group), CMD Shield for Best Department (Production & Sales), CMD Shield for Best Department (Support), and awards for Best Project and Best Project (Works). Instituted in 2023, the awards aim to recognise outstanding performance and inspire a culture of innovation and commitment across the organisation.
