Bongaigaon: NTPC Bongaigaon celebrated the organisation’s 51st Raising Day, marking NTPC’s Golden Jubilee, with great enthusiasm and participation from employees, their families, and the local community at the project’s Administrative Building. The event celebrated the company’s remarkable journey of five decades of powering India’s growth with unity, pride, and progress.
The celebration commenced with the unfurling of the NTPC flag by Arnab Maitra, Head of Project, NTPC Bongaigaon, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting and release of NTPC-themed balloons to commemorate the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Maitra reflected on NTPC’s inspiring journey from its inception at Singrauli in 1975 to its present stature as India’s largest integrated power producer with an installed capacity exceeding 84 GW, including joint ventures. He highlighted NTPC Bongaigaon’s contribution of 750 MW in ensuring uninterrupted power supply to the North-Eastern region with an impressive Declared Capacity (DC) of 98.61%. He reiterated the station’s focus on operational excellence, environmental conservation, and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives across the North Eastern states, expressing gratitude to employees and stakeholders for their continued support.
The event was graced by Shri Anurag Gupta, GM (O&M), Shri L.N. Meitei, Commandant, CISF, and Smt. Kasturi Maitra, President, Bardwi Shikla Ladies Club, along with senior officials, departmental representatives, union members, and employees’ families.
In recognition of outstanding contributions, six employees were honoured with the Power Excel Awards for their exemplary performance and commitment. Four employees designated as Master Trainers under the Rashtriya KarmYogi Training Programme of the Government of India were also felicitated for promoting continuous learning and development within the organisation.
Adding a touch of patriotism, employees joined together in a soulful rendition of “Vande Mataram” to commemorate 150 years of the iconic song, symbolising unity and devotion to the nation. Earlier in the day, a Walkathon was organised within the township to promote health and camaraderie, followed by a mass plantation drive led by the Environment Monitoring Group (EMG) Department, during which over 2,000 saplings were planted, reaffirming NTPC’s commitment to sustainability and green initiatives.
Established on 7 November 1975, NTPC has played a pivotal role in transforming India’s power sector over the past five decades. With a current installed capacity of over 84 GW, NTPC aims to achieve 150 GW by 2032 through a diversified energy mix encompassing thermal, gas, hydro, nuclear, and renewables — reinforcing its mission to deliver reliable, affordable, and sustainable energy for all.
