New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) on Monday commenced its 3rd OMC Annual Sports Meet 2025, a three-day event scheduled from December 22 to 24 across multiple venues in Bhubaneswar, including Kalinga Stadium, Biju Patnaik Multipurpose Indoor Stadium and the East Coast Railway Cricket Stadium.
The event was formally inaugurated by OMC Managing Director (MD) Sudhansu Mohan Samal (IAS), in the presence of Executive Director (F&E) Sudhanshu Shekhar Khora (IFS); Director (Operations) Sabyasachi Mohanty; Director (HR) Alok Kumar Pal; Director (Finance) Bana Bihari Pani, along with senior officials and participating employees from across the organisation.
More than 550 employees are taking part in the Sports Meet, competing in 18 sporting disciplines, including sprint races, long jump, javelin throw, table tennis, volleyball and cricket. The event reflects OMC’s continued focus on employee wellbeing, teamwork and the promotion of a vibrant organisational culture.
Addressing the gathering, Samal said that the Annual Sports Meet goes beyond competition and serves as a platform to strengthen unity and camaraderie among employees. He noted that sports foster discipline, teamwork and collective spirit, adding that such initiatives mirror the shared values and dedication that contribute to OMC’s organisational performance as well as Odisha’s broader development.
The inaugural ceremony also featured cultural performances highlighting Odisha’s rich heritage, including Sambalpuri folk dance and music. Prior to the commencement of sporting events, participants and officials took a Sports Safety Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to fair play, adherence to safety norms, injury prevention and disciplined conduct throughout the meet.
On the occasion, OMC also felicitated its internationally recognised sportspersons employed with the Corporation, acknowledging their achievements and reiterating OMC’s support for nurturing sporting excellence alongside professional careers.
