New Delhi: Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, organised a one-day workshop on “Intellectual Property & Innovation Management” on April 22, at the L&DC Conference Hall, marking the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day.

The programme was conducted in collaboration with the National Research Development Corporation (NRDC), an enterprise under the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Cmde Amit Rastogi (Retd.), CMD, NRDC; Mr. Subhasis Sengupta, CGM (Works) In-charge; and Anindya Ghosh, CGM (Services), delivered the inaugural addresses, highlighting the importance of intellectual property (IP) in driving innovation and competitiveness in the industrial sector.

The workshop was coordinated by Ruchira Gupta, GM (QA & R&D) In-charge, along with her team comprising Soumya and Venugopal.

Technical sessions were conducted by domain experts including Dr. B. K. Sahu, SRM & Head-ORC, NRDC; Dr. Bhavya, In-charge, NRDC Visakhapatnam; and Dr. Louise Boisen, IPR Counsellor at the Royal Danish Embassy. The sessions covered key aspects of intellectual property protection, valuation, and commercialisation.

The workshop aimed at creating awareness among senior executives and professionals of RINL on leveraging intellectual property for business growth. It also emphasised the role of innovation-driven strategies and fostering industry-academia collaboration to enhance competitiveness in the evolving industrial landscape.
