RSP organises health check-up camp for its contract labours

SAIL's Rourkela Steel Plant organised a health check-up camp for its contract labours in the blast furnaces area of the plant

Rourkela: The 45th periodic health check-up camp has been organised for the contract labour working in the blast furnaces area of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) on December 18. In all 207 contract labour attended the camp. They were examined for vision, blood pressure, random blood sugar, blood grouping, Hepatitis B and general check-up like hearing and pulse rate etc. HIV counselling was also provided. The identified patients were also given medicines free of cost.

Chief General Manager (Blast Furnaces) of RSP AK Mistry also visited the health check-up camp and interacted with the contract workers. Several other officers of the plant were also present on the occasion.

Dr K Tandiya, Joint Director, ESI Dispensary, Kansbahal led the team in conducting the camp. The other members of the team namely Dr Surnedra Kumar, ADMO, RSP, Dr Usha Minz and Dr AK Nayak from ESI Dispensary and Dr RP Mishra, IMO, ESI Model Hospital conducted the health check-up of the contract workers.

The programme was coordinated by RSP's DGM (Personnel – Projects & CLC)  TG Kanekar and the team of contract labour cell (CLC). AK Kapil, GM and DSO, BF and Avinash (Manager) CLC coordinated the event.

It is noteworthy that from the date of commencement of the scheme in April 2013, in all 1,1434 contract labour have been covered under this initiative. The programmes are being organised by personnel – contract labour cell with the help of Ispat General Hospital (IGH) in association with Employees State Insurance Corporation, Rourkela and Employees State Insurance Scheme, Rourkela.
