RSP organises rural football tournament “Samvardhan”

The zonal level match of ‘Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament’ has been organised by the CSR Department of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP)

Rourkela: The zonal level match of 'Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament' for Bisra Block has been organised by the CSR Department of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) at Dalposh village of Bisra Block recently. 32 teams from Bisra Block took part in the tournament.

RSP's ED (Works) Gautam Banerjee graced the concluding function as chief guest and presented the Trophies and cash awards to the champions of the tournament. Also present on the occasion were GM (F&A) NK Rao, DGM (CSR) Munmun Mittra, Senior Manager (CSR) AK Parida, village heads and officials of CSR Department.

Dumerta team emerged as Champions after defeating Bijadih in the final match. The third and the fourth positions were bagged by the teams from Budeljore and Kukuda village. The champions received a trophy and a cash award of Rs 6,000/- while the runners up team got a trophy and a cash award of Rs. 5,000/-. The 3rd and 4th teams received cash prizes of Rs. 4,000/- and Rs. 3,000/- respectively.

The dignitaries also handed over the Best Player, Best Scorer, Best Goal Keeper and Best Defender awards comprising trophies and cash awards to Adwin Tirkey of Dumerta, Sanika Minz of Kukuda, Pradeep Xalxo of Bijadih and Anil Oram of Budeljore village respectively.

The five-day tournament was coordinated by Suman Self Help Group of Dalposh Village. A large number of football lovers from in and around the village gathered to witness the event.

It may be noted that the 'Samvardhan Rural Football Tournament' gets organised in the four peripheral Blocks of RSP every year. The Champions and the runners up from each of the four zones would then participate in the Final Football Match that will be held at Rourkela.
