New Delhi: Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with National Health Authority (NHA) for empanelment of SAIL Hospitals under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), Wednesday at its headquarters in New Delhi. At present, 14 numbers of SAIL hospitals and healthcare units located at various locations like Bhilai, Bokaro, Rourkela, Durgapur, Burnpur etc will extend the coverage to a larger section of the populace in those regions. With this MoU, the beneficiaries under PM-JAY will be able to take cashless treatment at SAIL hospitals as per the terms and conditions of the Scheme.

Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, India's flagship healthcare scheme, provides a cover of Rs 5.0 Lakhs per family per year to around 50 crore poor and vulnerable individuals. This is a flagship scheme of the government to ensure that the deprived population of the country has universal access to good quality health care services. This MoU is an endeavour to increase the coverage of PM-JAY, which will enable SAIL to broaden its outreach of medical facilities to more people around its plant and unit locations.

In the presence of SAIL's Director (Personnel) Atul Srivastava and host of other officials of SAIL and NHA, the MoU was signed between Chief General Manager of SAIL and General Manager (Hospital Networking & Quality Assurance) of NHA, PMJAY.
