New Delhi/Shimla: State-owned power company SJVN Limited organised a tree plantation drive in Shimla on Tuesday under the nationwide campaign ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ to commemorate World Environment Day and reinforce its commitment to environmental sustainability.

The plantation drive was conducted under the leadership of Chairman and Managing Director Bhupender Gupta and was organised at Chamiyana, Shimla, in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh State Forest Department.
As part of the initiative, Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma, Chief Vigilance Officer Pankaj Porwal and Lakhwinder Singh participated in the plantation activity by planting saplings of various indigenous species.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said that 150 saplings, including Deodar, Oak, Walnut, Pomegranate and other tree species, were planted as a symbol of collective commitment towards environmental conservation. He noted that such initiatives play an important role in promoting awareness and encouraging proactive measures for environmental protection.
The plantation drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials of the 133 Infantry Battalion (TA) Eco Dogra, representatives of the Himachal Pradesh State Forest Department, and Heads of Departments, senior officials and employees from SJVN’s Corporate Headquarters in Shimla.
